San Francisco Legal Offers Solution for Processing and Preserving Foreign Language Documents

San Francisco Legal's solution processes e-mail and other electronic files that contain foreign languages and CJK (Chinese-Japanese-Korean) characters, and then delivers the resulting data in a format that allows review of the electronic files while preserving the metadata and extracted text.

San Francisco Legal recently processed foreign language documents for a large national law firm tasked with reviewing approximately 50,000 files -- around 10 gigabytes -- of foreign language documents. The firm had approached several other local vendors, all of whom were unable to successfully process their client's population of data and preserve the foreign language character sets. Ultimately, the client turned to SF Legal for help.
To shorten client review time and lower the overall project cost, SF Legal first deduplicated the data to reduce the number of files. The text and metadata was then extracted and the native electronic files were converted to TIFF. All Unicode character sets were preserved in both the extracted text and metadata. The final project was delivered to the law firm for loading and review on their internal litigation support platform.
