If the data needs collection and investigation, we’ll find it
Whether it’s one custodian or 100, people have data stored everywhere – in multiple locations, on multiple devices, in all sorts of formats. And it’s all potentially discoverable. Our expert team has traveled the U.S. to collect data, venturing south to Texas and north to Alaska. They’ve even gone overseas to India and Japan. But like any good traveler who wants to save time and money, before they left the Bay Area, they had a plan.
Plan first, collect second
If you already have a collection plan, great. Give us our marching orders. If not, we’ll help you make one so everything gets done right the first time. That way, you’ll be sure to be ready for your meet and confer, and in full compliance with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. After we understand the IT infrastructure of the firm and the relevant custodians, we’ll work with you to develop a clear plan of what needs to be collected from which sources. We can identify and retrieve electronic data from all storage media and systems, including active, deleted, hidden, lost or encrypted files, or file fragments.
Using industry leading hardware and software, we can capture entire drives or specific files, while at all times maintaining the integrity of your originals. We also handle restoration from tape and damaged media. If any concerns arise along the way that were not discussed as part of the collection plan, our project manager will contact you immediately. Together, we can decide if a change in course is necessary. Throughout the entire process we’ll maintain a full chain of custody and document all processes, thus ensuring that you have defensible data to work with. Digging for the smoking gun
Sometimes collection isn’t enough. Here’s an example: An entire office of employees in a branch of a national company quits and opens up a competing business. The race is on to get a TRO. Sure, lots of data needs to be collected. But the most urgent requirement is to analyze the drives to find that smoking gun – such as information that was illegally copied, or documents giving evidence of the conspiracy from Hotmail and Gmail accounts in the unallocated space.
Our expert team can perform forensic investigations on any digital media. They’ve worked on numerous high-profile investigations and have the references to prove it. And they also have extensive experience acting as expert witnesses. It’s this high level of experience that makes it easy for us to stand behind everything we do. And easy for you to relax, knowing that you’re backed by a seasoned team of forensic experts.
